The BIG "M"~

Morning folks.

Here is the deal, I was having my Christmas and New Year Break back in my hometown a while ago so you can say that I was kinda free (Although NOT really, since I have a few assignments to do before the school break ends and I have some other stuffs to attend to.) and so I took the initiative to, among other things such as restarting my blog which no one follows and coming to terms that my FINALS for my Law course (LLB) is like only 128 days away, browse through some of my primary school friends, secondary school friends and also friends from my Form 6 (Lower and Upper)'s fb profiles to be, well, updated in a particular way.

Which leads us to the main point of this blog that I am making:
"It never occur to me THAT SO MANY OF MY FRIENDS ARE ALREADY REGISTERED IF NOT ENGAGED OR ARE HAPPILY MARRIED ALREADY!!!"

Before I go any further, here is to all my friends that are already married, engaged or registered: "Congratulations! May your marriage be filled with all the right ingredients: a heap of LOVE, a dash of HUMOUR, a touch of ROMANCE, and a spoonful of UNDERSTANDING. May your JOY last forever." =)

Ok~ Back to the point.

I am just curious.
Is it me, aged 23, (Aged 24 in a few days time) that is slacking behind or is it the norm to get married at an early age nowadays?? I mean all my friends are already working, buying new cars, buying new properties and so on but HERE I AM still struggling with the 2nd year (All in all there are 3 years for the University of London External Progamme that I am currently pursuing) of my LLBs with no dreams or future in sight whereas my friends are, one by one, getting married and happily settling down as a family man/woman.

Yeah I know~ FML!!! (TT")~

But after using like an eternity just thinking about it and also discussing it with my friends and family members, I realised it is NOT that I am slacking behind, and it is also NOT that my friends are getting married just for the sake of keeping up with the norm...

The TRUE answer is that I AM JUST NOT READY TO VENTURE OUT OF THIS SHELL OF MINE and TO STEP INTO THE WORLD OF MARRIAGE.

Just thinking of marriage is sending chills down my spine.
I mean I cannot bear the thought of having, hypothetically, my wings clipped and being tied down with the serious business called "MARRIAGE" for the time being.

I can't even stand the fact of having my freedom being controlled by my gf but thats another story.

In short, it is still too early for me to commit myself to a marriage.

For this, I would like to salute the courage and bravery of my friends who are already happily married and settling down.
Sincerely, I really admire your courage for taking the next step at such an age.

Chiaoz~ Comments are deeply appreciated here.

Special "Year-End Rant" (Part 2)

Ok~ Here is Part 2 of my so-called special "Year-End Rant".
(It would seem like I am a professional blogger for dividing up my blog, but trust me, in actual fact I was just taking a nap~ =P)
After ranting on and on and on about so-called "ACCOMPLISHMENTS" in Part 1, I am now gonna shout about those that we called "FRIENDS".
Before you guys start rolling your eyes and shrugging your shoulders while saying "BORING", let me assure you that YES its gonna be FREAKING boring from here on since WHO DA HELL does NOT know what FRIENDS are?? Right?? I mean we will have friends where ever we go. Its like part and parcel of, well, LIFE maybe?? Heck we can even meet new friends in a public toilet provided we stay there long enough. (Not that I do that myself~ (==")) That brings us to the actual reason for me to blog about this subject and the ISSUE here being HOW MANY REAL AND TRUE FRIENDS do you ACTUALLY have?? Or to put it into my context, that being my special "YEAR-END RANT" series: "HOW MANY REAL AND TRUE FRIENDS HAVE YOU MET DURING THE LAST DECADE of the MILLENIUM 2000??"
To further enhance my point as per above, lets do a few small experiments that will only take up a couple of minute of the last few hours of the year 2010.
EXPERIMENT 1
I know there are tonnes of people out there who have like a few k's of friends in their FB list, (Including me~ Not VOLUNTARILY though) so go to your "FRIEND LIST" and scroll through it while having this question in mind: "HOW MANY FRIENDS WILL YOU ACTUALLY ASKED OUT FOR A DRINK OR FOR A MOVIE OR TO HANG OUT TOGETHER WITH??"
EXPERIMENT 2
For the next experiment, I need you guys to take out ALL, and I mean ALL, of your handsets, and scroll through your "CONTACT LIST" while bearing this question in mind: "WHO WILL YOU ACTUALLY TEXT WHEN YOU ARE FEELING DOWN (AND OUT), FOR COMFORT OR JUST TO HAVE A LITTLE HEART TO HEART TALK WHEN YOU REALLY NEED IT??"
EXPERIMENT 3
Imagine you are driving your car late at night and it broke down suddenly in the middle of nowhere and your family or relatives are not around, ASK YOURSELF THE QUESTIONS BELOW:
1) WHO WILL YOU ACTUALLY SEND AN SOS FOR HELP FOR??
Once you manage to trim down your list of friends to the (Presuming you have 100 friends in your contact list.) last 10 or so, its time to ask the SECOND QUESTION:
2) OF THE REMAINING 10 or so, WHO WILL ACTUALLY COME AND HELP YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT??
Once you manage to list out those that will brave the late night just to come out and help you~
VOILA~ HE /SHE is your true friend.
So yeah~ Back to the issue, how many TRUE FRIENDS do you guys actually have??
True... Me myself DID MET lots of COOL FRIENDS during the last decade but TRUE FRIENDS?? Hmm~ Let me just do the above experiments myself first before I give you guys my answer~ =P
Anyways, thus ends PART 2 of my special "Year-End Rant".
Hopefully I can finish my series of "Year-End Rant" before we bid adieu to the year 2010 and to usher in the year 2011.
Feedbacks and comments are highly recommended for those who really did come in to read this crap.

Special "YEAR-END RANT" (Part 1)

Booyah~ Guess whose back Bb-lu-o-gg-ing??
Ok... So... Its the 31st of December 2010. The year is FINALLY coming to an end???
Apart from IT being just another year for tonnes of people out there... Have you guys noticed that we, as humans, have SURVIVED the 1st DECADE of the MILLENIUM?? (Round of applause is required here since its no easy feat.) What with Mother Nature raining down one havoc after another onto our little planet called 'EARTH', it is natural for one so small, so insignificant, like us, as compared to the universe, to feel happy and lucky that he/she manage to weather the storm and still be able to step foot into the 2nd DECADE of the MILLENIUM 2000 with our heads held high, bodies and minds still intact. (Not forgetting that there still hasn't been a zombie outbreak as per the "Resident Evil" Series and all the zombie movies out there... *wink*)
A SHOUTOUT for those who have been too busy handling their lives (Yours sincerely as a culprit too.) in virtual cyberspace such as FB, Twitter, Friendster, MySpace, Arua Rose, Cabal, Maple, SDO, Audition SEA, DoTA, L4D and L4D2 etc. WHAT HAVE WE ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISHED during these 1st DECADE??? ANYTHING THAT IS WORTH MENTIONING TO THE WORLD??? ANYTHING AT ALL???
And when I say "ACCOMPLISHED " something, I mean, like, REALLY REALLY ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING in OUR LIVES!!!
Not tiny, puny stuffs such as:
1) You manage to acquire a legendary weapon from a legendary monster in an online game.
2) You manage to single-handedly defeat throngs of zombies in "L4D" and "L4D2".
3) You manage to beat the crap outta your arch-rival in a PvP in Arua Rose, Cabal etc.
4) You manage to hit the highest score in an online dance battle like SDO or Audition SEA.
5) You reached GODLIKE status when you are pawning your enemies in DoTA. *winks*
6) You succeeded in opening a 2nd, a 3rd, a 4th and what the heck a 5th account in FB.
7) Your "Friend List" in FB touched the sum of 4500 or so friends.
8) Your picture, that you asked people to "Kindly CLICK on the LINK below and "LIKED" it", manage to get, well, lots of 'LIKES'???
9) Your FARMVILLE is THRIVING to the MAX.
I can go on and on and on with the list of so-called "ACCOMPLISHMENTS" that many people out there would have achieved during the last 10 years or so but then I thought that it would be best if I stopped at number 9 for security reasons. What with all the psycho people that are out there nowadays getting more and more HOSTILE and SENSITIVE regarding minor stuffs, you just do not know where or when they might just hire:
1) Assassins to assassinate you. (Most probably fans of the "Assassin's Creed" series.)
2) Ninjas to ambush you. ("Naruto" and "Naruto Shippuuden" series.)
3) Shinigamis to bring you to the "Nether World". (Obviously from the "Bleach" series.)
4} Mercenaries that uses brawns rather than brains. ("The Expendables" and " The A-Team")
5) The whole colony of Na'vis raining arrows onto you. (*I see you* All hail "The Avatar")
6) Vehicle-changing robots that will reduce my house to rubbles. (Autobots and Decepticons)
7) Acid-spitting aliens and aliens with cool gadgets that, literally, blow your head off. (A v P)
8) Justin Bieber to sing "Baby, Baby" to me. (HORRORS OF ALL HORRORS *screams*)
Ok... So, just think bout it, what have we ACTUALLY accomplished this year??
Personally, I don't think I accomplished anything at all this year let alone the whole decade. Sure I finished my PMR, SPM and STPM but everyone does that too.
Nothing special...
Not forgetting the fact that I stepped into the world of "LAW"...
As mentioned, it is BUT a step only, although when I DO GRADUATE I ll list it as an ACCOMPLISHMENT for myself but that will be during the next decade.
Thus ENDS Part 1 of my special "YEAR-END RANT" about the year 2010.
As usual, feedbacks and comments are gladly accepted.
Stay tune for Part 2 later today.

~Friends Forever~

So.. Its like this, I was browsing through my labby when I came across this song by 'Vitamin C'!!
It really brings back FOND MEMORIES of my secondary school days!!
It kinda strikes a chord somewhere in my heart!!
So.. Here is it, 'Friends Forever (The Graduation Song)' by Vitamin C..

Lyrics down here, take a moment to go through them!! XDXD~

And so we talked all night about the rest of our lives
Where we're gonna be when we turn 25
I keep thinking times will never change
Keep on thinking things will always be the same
But when we leave this year we won't be coming back
No more hanging out cause we're on a different track
And if you got something that you need to say
You better say it right now cause you don't have another day
Cause we're moving on and we can't slow down
These memories are playing like a film without sound
And I keep thinking of that night in June
I didn't know much of love
But it came too soon
And there was me and you
And then we got real cool
Stay at home talking on the telephone with me
We'd get so excited, we'd get so scared
Laughing at our selves thinking life's not fair
And this is how it feels

[1] -
As we go on
We remember
All the times we
Had together
And as our lives change
Come whatever
We will still be
Friends Forever

So if we get the big jobs
And we make the big money
When we look back now
Will our jokes still be funny?
Will we still remember everything we learned in school?
Still be trying to break every single rule
Will little brainy Bobby be the stockbroker man?
Can Heather find a job that won't interfere with her tan?
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly
And this is how it feels

[Repeat 1]

La, la, la, la:
Yeah, yeah, yeah
La, la, la, la:
We will still be friends forever

Will we think about tomorrow like we think about now?
Can we survive it out there?
Can we make it somehow?
I guess I thought that this would never end
And suddenly it's like we're women and men
Will the past be a shadow that will follow us 'round?
Will these memories fade when I leave this town
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly

[Repeat 1 (3x)]

Well.. It kinda makes me think about my school days back than!!
I wonder how all my friends are doing right now??

Time to come up with a gathering..

XDXD

'Mud-ball Making' Galore ~ Save Mother Earth!!

So, the very first thing that I noticed when I was routinely visiting my college's Facebook profile for some juicy gossips and interesting news a few days back was this post urging students to participate in a 'Mud-ball Making' Session, organized by our college, at Hunza Property (Kelawai Road) on the 23rd July 2009!! As usual, I jumped at the chance to do something MEANINGFUL and BENEFICIAL rather than rotting and wasting my life away in my room as I am FREAKIN FREE (Pardon my language.. but I wanted to emphasized on the word 'FREE' because its so DAMN true) for the time being. Thus, begins my first 'Mud-ball Making" experience!!

Once we reached our destination (By the way, thanks Miss Queenie for the lift.!!XDXD) we were greeted by a Miss (Gosh.. I forgot her name!! I ll jus label her as Miss EM for the time being...(TT")) who gave us a talk/presentation of what is in the mud-balls that we are about to make and what role does it play in cleaning up our river system stuffs. She also showed us some slides on rivers that have been successfully cleaned and cleared up by using this seemingly primative method!! Believe me it REALLY WORKS and you must really see it to believe it!! It was really a sight to behold..Not saying that I am in anyways a sceptic to this method!!

So.. It BEGINS!!! I ll let the pictures do the TALKING!!

So, what are you guys WAITING for?? COME JOIN US NOW!!!
Together we can make the earth a better place for our future kins to live in!!

Creating the 'Starbucks' Experience~

Thus... Ends my brief two months as a Starbuck's Barrista experience officially!!

Except for the fact that I wrongly interpreted the time that my Starbuck's partner send to me a few days back (I was waiting at the doorsteps of New World Park's Starbucks at approximately 8.45 am, thinking that for my last day I was given the morning shift which is from 9am to 1pm when actually I was given the night shift which is from 9pm to 1am.), everything just went on smoothly and I actually finish all my duties earlier than usual as it was not really a busy night!!

So.. What are my thoughts and opinions after working in Starbucks with some of the top barristas for two months??

Well.. I can assure you it is NOT a walk in the park!! I never thought that being a barrista can be so HARD, I mean, I used to think that its all just about making drinks and stuffs so how hard can it be?? I never took into consideration the mockery and the scolding that I will received from the seniors once I started workin there!! Practically everyday I will get it from them and they can REALLY be UNPLEASANT. But I don't really blame them for it as it was usually my MISTAKES that kinda gives them the opportunity to get into SCOLDING mode!!

But, logically speaking, how can you expect a newbie like me to be as SKILLFUL and MASTERFUL as the senior barristas there, some of which have been working for years?? I mean I tried my best to follow their every step but you can't expect me to be as fast as them like so soon... right?? I mean... between all of them (around 9 partners, excluding me though..), they might have make about.. like what? 1000 or 2000 cups of beverages?? Of course they are already used to it!! The HECK they can even close their eyes doing beverages for the customers. BUT ME?? I don't think I even manage to make 50 cups of beverages during my time there... So, in my opinion, MISTAKES are sure to happen!! But it might differs with some of you guys who can take up SOMETHING OR ANYTHING today and MASTER it the very next day. (I sincerely RESPECT this group of people!! *salutes*)

Take this one time.. I forgot the drizzle (Just to make the drink look nice and identifiable..), I mean, sometimes SHIT do happen right?? You may know every SINGLE DAMN PROCEDURE like the back of your hand already but you kinda experience a sudden memory lost and just experience a total 'whiteout' for that very split second, which was what happen to me exactly and guess what?? Yup.. BINGO!!! You got it right.. I was given a vicious backlash by one of the seniors right at the counter, right in front of all the customers, right in front of that PARTICULAR customer that ORDERED the drink!! Everyone was basically looking at the free show that was happening at that moment and to finished things up, my senior even took out the beverage file and threw it on the counter for the added special effect!! But.. as usual.. I don't hold any grudges towards him because, like seriously, it was all because of my MISTAKE that gave rise to his tirades of remarks!! Don't get me wrong.. I still respect this guy but I just can't quite agree with the way he teaches or scolds people because it has been mentioned during our training lessons (Yup.. New barristas have to undergo a particular training program before they can actually be confirmed as barristas) that if a partner or partners (This is what we call our colleagues working in the shop) does something wrong, they are not supposed to scold them there and then right in front of the customers but to kinda do it BEHIND the shop. This was what kinda make me SAD.. call me a COWARD but his scoldings ACTUALLY gave me the PHOBIA of making drinks which later on became the HOT ISSUE among the partners in the store that I am running away from making drinks and stuffs such as I don't like being taught by people etc etc.

Here in my blog.. I can FINALLY RAISED MY DEFENCE that I AM NOT A COWARD and I AM NOT RUNNING AWAY FROM MAKING DRINKS and NO I NEVER, I repeat, I NEVER SHOWED THAT I DON"T LIKE BEING TAUGHT BY PEOPLE!! Heck.. How many times have you guys scolded me but did I ever even RETALIATE a single bit?? All that I did was carry on SMILING and NODDING my head because I know I am WRONG and I am GRATEFUL that I am being taught by you guys!! I mean.. COME ON.. Its not like I am a kid or something!! I am 22 yrs old for GODSAKE!! I know HOW to keep my TEMPER in check when I FREAKIN NEED to!!

Ok.. FINALLY I can let go of what I had been wanting to say for so long!! It feels GREAT, like a BURDEN has been LIFTED from my chest!! Since I have already said it out here.. I shall and will ERASED this unpleasant memory as a Barrista from my MIND!! And if YOU, yes YOU THAT GAVE ME THAT SCOLDING, are reading this.. I don't hold any grudges against you because I know you are just doing your job as a senior and I am thankful for what you have guided me through during my short time there!! Thanks..=)

In fact, to all those that manage to gave me a horrid time there, I don't hold any grudges against you guys!! You guys have been AMAZING.. and when I said that you guys were some of the best barristas, I REALLY DO MEAN IT!! I really learnt quite a lot of things there.. BUT maybe being a BARRISTA is just not my cup of tea, or coffee in this case!! But all in all.. THANKS to all of you that have guided me through the beginning of my 'STARBUCKS EXPERIENCE' and I will miss you guys a lot. Hopefully we can still hang out sometimes as normal friends and just NOT talk about coffee for a single day...

Specially to Lydia, Beng, Joanne, Liew, Jon, Keat, Cheah Ni, Rainee, Theing, Tatt

It has been a wonderful experience working with you guys although I do admit we did have our Ups and Downs but REST ASSURE I really am NOT HOLDING any GRUDGES against you guys because I fully understand that teamwork is a CRUCIAL FACTOR in an INTERNATIONAL FRANCHISE like Starbucks and we ARE a TEAM when we put on our uniform, our appron and the cowboy straw hat!!! *wink wink* =P

Hopefully, in the near future we can meet under a different circumstances and just laugh about what happened during my time there and all the wrong drinks that I make which make you guys go 'alamak, why you so hopeless' !! =P

Take care y'all!!!

With regards,
~ktyy~
(ex NOOBIE Starbucks Barrista)
